Jack’s Back: Umpteenth retelling of the Jack The Ripper legend is updated to modern day L.A. where youthful physician Spader is the #1 suspect. Prostitutes are slaughtered in grisly style one hundred years to the night after Bloody Jack’s legendary offenses. The twist midway through is preposterous. Cast includes James Spader, Cynthia Gibb, Pole Loomis, Rex Ryon, Robert Picardo, Chris Mulkey, and Dauitza Kingsley. (97 minutes,’88)

The Jackie Robinson Story: Simple bio of Robinson, the first black man to play Major League Baseball. Captivating as a historical story; pointed in its presentation of the racial issues engaged. Interestingly, Robinson’s Negro League ball club is named the Black Panthers! Dee plays Robinson’s spouse. The movie is depicted by Brock Peters. Cast includes Jackie Robinson, Red Dee, Little Watson, Louise Beavers, Richard Aisle, Harry Shannon, Ben Lessy, and Joel Fuellen. (76 minutes,’50)

Toy Story: A boy’s top choice toy, a doll named Woody, feels bullied and properly so by the emergence of a new toy, a high-tech spaceman model promoted on Television. An adult story masquerading as a kids film, this tale of kinship, fickleness, and the need for acceptance has a vibrant cast of characters led by Woody and his adversary, Thrill Light-year. Their facial proclamations and body language is as excellent as anything ever seen in a conventional animation. Hiroshima Mon Amour: Resnais first film is a considerate, difficult research of a French film actress Riva and Japanese designer Okada, each with a tough past, who have a coincidental event in postwar Hiroshima. Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Clone Wars rage on all throughout the galaxy. The Jedi-Knights are doing all they can to keep things under control. The dark side is gaining in power.
