Swapping paperback books has several advantages. Trading books gives you the opportunity to clear out your shelves but still be environmentally friendly. You can discover new literary treasures that you wouldn’t otherwise buy because it will only cost a few dollars. You may find that trading paperbacks is a new hobby just as long as you know all of the secrets of the trade.

Know exactly what you are looking for and ask for it. Sure, most of the books you get will meet the basic TOS but that doesn’t mean that the books have to be like new. You might want to ask beforehand if the item has been around cats or cigarettes if you are allergic. You might even be able to build your library with only books that are basically new but some traders may not be willing to work with so many restrictions.

Be realistic about the condition of the books that you are sending out. Make sure that you get the correct edition of the book by entering the numbers on the back instead of just the title. Check to make sure that your item hasn’t been damaged by water while it was in storage. Look at the book closely before you ever list it instead of just trying to remember which books you have on your shelf.

Explore the variety of books available to you. You can choose between paperback, audio and even hardback and you’ll also have a choice of different editions. You might find that it costs more to ship out hardcover books.

Know the value of what you are trading. There are different ways that books are valued on swapping sites. You may want to concentrate first on items that are high in demand to cut down on long lines later on. You want to constantly stay on top of the trading game by knowing when books you want will be released. You also need to check your email a lot so you can be alerted of your trades.

Explore Media Mail. This is a less expensive way to mail books but it’s also slower. You need to allow enough time to meet the timeline set forth by the swapping site if you use this method of shipping.
