Performing NLP On Others

Understanding the brain, and the way it functions can be defined by the word Neuro. Linguistic means communication aspects, verbal and non-verbal, and Programming relates to the behavioural and thinking patterns of people. Therefore, the name Neuro Linguistic Programming was originated.

NLP was first developed in 1970s by Richard Bandier, an information scientist, and John Grinder, a linguist. Richard and John were intrigued by the influence that people had over each other, and others who were able to mimic those who were most influential.

They were hence, interested in the behaviour of very prominent people, and its effectiveness. They carried out their research at the University of California, which turned out to be significant, because they contributed as a team utilising their careers and talents, and then used insights from behavioural psychology as well as general theory systems to explore effectual communication and its secrets.

The methodology called human modelling, which seeks and explains the processes that people experience, was carried out by Richard and John. Thus, it discovers things through studying a person, someone who does something specific, or is proficient at his work.

For example, if you want to know how to design an advertising campaign, you would first go to someone who designs campaigns, because this person is the best at what he does. This person will be able to answer all your queries, for example, what do they do, how do they go about doing it, what works in their field and what does not, and so on and so forth.

NLP technology can even help in uncovering things your model might not have knowledge of. You are required to study the thought processes, personal experiences, and observe the behaviour of your model, in order for it to be carried out properly. Specific indicators which people do not know about, but NLP practitioners are able to notice and comprehend their meaning, are included in the behaviour pattern. This consists of eye movements, pupil dilation, some gestures, breathing pattern, changes in voice tone, or even minute changes, like skin colour variations.

NLP performance refers to being sure about what we know, what we think and to utilise it efficiently. It implies that by varying your thinking, you are able to transform what you think. It aids in changing your thought as well as behavioural patterns to complement your goals better.

If you experiment with NLP without adequate training, you could be the reason for chaos in the mind of your model, damaging it to the point that they might require hospitalisation, due to the efficiency of NLP. It is also a fact that many people have been going around claiming to be professionals regarding NLP, but previously no quality control existed, and people who hardly knew about it, went around teaching it. The truth is that NLP requires time, patience and knowledge of the right type. Experience is needed, to be able to use the techniques effectively, even though it may be simple to teach on a different level.
