Church Suits for Men

Traditionally, families attending church on Sundays will be seen dressing in their finest clothes. Most often, a gentleman’s finest item would be a suit. You can not feel like it is any other day than a work week day with your everyday business suit. But a church suit for your Sundays will make you feel like it’s a special day.

This suit should be of good design and be expertly tailored. It should give the man wearing it a clean and polished look, and be even more so with a matching shirt and tie. Whether the man is socializing at church or greeting the pastor of the church his suit should have a formal feel to it.

Another way to accessorize a man?s look would be by wearing a hat, if he so desires. This hat should coordinate with the color of the suit, perhaps a smaller hat that has a small brim. Nothing too flashy or cheesy would be suitable for church.

Shirts should be reasonably plain, certainly not flamboyant. If it has button ? down collars make sure they are buttoned. It could be acceptable in some churches to wear an open neck. For sure, these days the church is appealing to a younger population and they have become more liberal.

Men’s suit can, at times, look quite smart with an open neck. And although it is not always necessary to wear a tie, this should be based open the atmosphere at your local church.

As far as what color shoes to wear, usually a pair of black dress shoes will go perfectly with a dark suit.

If you are wearing a white or cream colored suit then white or tan shoes will be best. Please remember that you are not at the office. It?s a social occasion, but you wish to look smart and feel comfortable.

Out of respect for other church members you should keep your jewelry to a minimum, make sure it matches and keep all necklaces under your shirt and tie. Large, flashy pieces of jewelry can be distracting in church.
